Lago Jardín is an urbanisation in the Los Balcones area, in the south of the Torrevieja municipality, about five kilometres from the centre and close to the Laguna Rosa. It has its own sector in the municipal plan and more than one phase, which is why you often hear people talk about Lago Jardín and Lago Jardín II.
An established community
It is a well-kept urbanisation that has been around for years, with a family feel. Many permanent residents live here and quite a few foreign owners, some all year round and others for part of the year. The typical home is the bungalow: on the ground floor with a garden or patio, or on the upper floor with an outside staircase and a solarium, in complexes with a communal pool.
What we are asked for in Lago Jardín
The lower bungalow and its shutters
The ground-floor bungalow has its windows at garden level, and it often faces communal areas that anyone can walk through. It is exactly the kind of home we had in mind with shutter reinforcement for ground floors and bungalows: a steel T under the bottom slat and bolts at each end that lock into the wall, so the shutter cannot be lifted or bent.
The upper bungalow and its solarium
On the upper one, the door out to the solarium or terrace is usually aluminium and sits in the sun all day. Over the years, the catch stops lining up. We sort it out by changing the lock for aluminium and uPVC without changing the door.
Changing the cylinder when you buy
If you buy a resale bungalow in Lago Jardín, you get a set of keys, but you do not know how many copies are out there. Changing the cylinder on day one is the sensible thing to do, and we explain it under lock cylinder replacement in Torrevieja.
