Villa Sol is an urbanisation in the northern part of the Torrevieja municipality, about two and a half kilometres from the centre, in the residential strip that runs from the old town towards Cabo Cervera. Its development plan was approved in February 1965, one of the first in the municipality, and the Town Hall’s record describes it as fully built up. It also has a later planning agreement, Villa Sol II.
A long-established urbanisation
The original plan provided for two types of home: single-storey villas on small plots and low-rise blocks. That layout is still there. Many houses are already several decades old, some renovated and others less so. Beyond that, we do not have reliable information about who lives here, so we are not going to tell you what we do not know.
What suits houses of this age
Old-style locks
In homes from the sixties and seventies we still come across lever locks with a large key and very basic cylinders. They are easy to open and to copy. Lever lock to cylinder conversion lets us fit a high-security European profile cylinder while keeping the door.
Doors that have dropped
Over the years, wooden doors sag and the latch stops going in. Sometimes adjusting the hinges and the strike plate is enough. If the lock is broken, we replace it.
Cylinders when the owner changes
If you buy or inherit a house in Villa Sol, you do not know who still has a key. Changing the lock cylinder comes first.
Shutters
On single-storey villas, we reinforce shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent: a steel T-profile under the bottom slat and bolts locked into the wall. Send us a photo and we will tell you whether yours is suitable for shutter reinforcement.
