Locksmith in La Mata (Torrevieja)

La Mata is almost a village within Torrevieja. It belongs to the municipality, but it lies some five or six kilometres north of the centre and has a life of its own: its square, its church and buildings lower than those in the town. In front it has a long beach of fine sand with dunes; behind it, the La Mata lagoon, which together with the Laguna Rosa makes up the lagoons natural park.

What the homes are like in La Mata

There is quite a mix. In the old core there are still low-rise flats and traditional houses. Around it, lots of coastal bungalows went up in the eighties on urbanisations with pools, and more recently new developments of townhouses and apartments have appeared close to the sea.

People live here all year round, many Spanish families and foreign buyers too, but in summer the population multiplies. Many homes are only opened up for the holidays or let by the week.

Doors shut with the keys inside

In July and August this is the most common call-out. You head down to the beach with the bare minimum, the wind shuts the door or someone leaves last without keys, and the rest of the family is left outside. Shutters on ground-floor bungalows

A ground-floor bungalow with a garden, closed up from October to June, is exactly what gets watched most from outside. That is why many owners in La Mata ask us for shutter reinforcement: we reinforce shutters so they cannot be lifted or bent, with a steel T-profile under the bottom slat and bolts that lock into the wall. Locks worn by salt air

In houses near the beach, the sea air gets into the cylinders. The key starts to go in stiffly and one day it will not turn. If you notice it, it is worth having it checked before it fails with the house locked up. Timely lock maintenance works out better than an emergency lockout.

Before you leave the house empty

If you are going back to your home country or only come in summer, check before you leave that all the doors close properly, that the key turns smoothly and that there are no copies of the keys in hands you no longer control. We give you a fixed quote before we start, and before opening any door we check that the person asking has the right to get in. In an area with so many homes empty for part of the year, that protects the owners themselves.
